The Trees Clap Their Hands
"They are the promise of the coming spring - naked limbs reaching out in hope and waiting as patiently as they can for the warmth of spring to return with their summer clothes. Sometimes, they wait in stillness, in silence. Sometimes, as the wind whips up about them, they clap their hands together. But they wait." Susan Stewart

A Good Afternoon to Stay Inside

Silent Night
This poem is for Hannah Fox, a young poet herself, who asked her Auntie Belinda to write her a poem. It doesn't rhyme, but I hope it will do!
It was night, dark night, or so I thought,But something drew me to the window on my way to bed.
And there to my surprise a snowfall was in process,
A world of wonder that I nearly missed,
My camera quickly found, I flung the window wide,
And in my thin nightclothes I caught my breath.
One shot, two, and then another,
Trying hard to capture the beauty of the night.
Happily I found, that one at least came close,
And I could go at last to bed, content.

Flame
I've been watching it from our windows all week--a major extrovert of a tree, in brilliant splendour, outshining all of the other trees in the forest on the hill.I've tried photographing it, but none did it justice. I'm working to learn how to use my camera better so that it shows what I see. This is my best try at capturing the tree. Enjoy it with me!
