Herald of Fall

Posted by Picasa
This summer--the summer of '07, has surely been the fastest summer of my life. It seemed hardly to have begun and I was hearing talk of "back to school."
Yesterday as I drove south to Bond Head from Barrie where I had met friends for tea, the traffic clogged the highway going south--cars with canoes strapped to their roofs and packed with coolers and sleeping bags.
I felt sad for summer being over and I think it was because I've been too busy this year. I regret a summer gone by without enough appreciation of each day.
Summer past could be a metaphor for life. I sure don't want to feel that way at the end of life--that I somehow missed something good because I was too busy.
But its such a tension, this busyness thing. Finding the balance is the trick--pressing into God's heart each morning so that I hear his heartbeat, his call for my day. And slowing down a little more to enjoy the view, to enjoy people. I need to do that more.
