In Holland, where I spent many happy childhood holidays, people don't draw the curtains at night, and I used to love looking into the cozy, "gezellig" homes, softly lamp-lit, with abundant plants. It was so different there to England where I grew up. There, it was true, "An Englishman's home is his castle," but a private castle!
Now, I love still looking into lamp-lit windows, even our own. This is our front hallway, looking in from the sun porch. It says "home."
